FLORIDA WINGSPAN
Poverty & Food Insecurity
From Miami to Tallahassee, Florida Wingspan supports Floridian communities by creating educational, career, and volunteering opportunities for students.
Community Projects
Florida Wingspan is supporting communities during these trying times through its community partners and student initiatives to alleviate the effects of educational disruptions, poverty, and inequity.
Most recently, the Branch has produced a directory of food distribution sites for students in West Palm Beach, Broward County, and Miami Dade County, accessible at bit.ly/WSFloridaFood.
The Branch is also part of the nationwide Wingspan virtual tutoring and college guidance program and is working to roll out options for students to catch up on their academics and prepare for their high school, college, and career journeys. The program is 100% free, is open to all ages, and offers 1-on-1 help for all subjects, including standardized test prep and college assistance for high schoolers. Tutors may also receive volunteer hours for certain service clubs.
